First, make sure you have the latest updates
1. Click on 'Update' in the navigation bar,
2. Search for available updates,
3. Select all available relevant updates,
4. Select a download location,
5. Download the selected updates.
Updates will be installed without any further action needed.
Second, click on 'Immunize' in the navigation bar. This will start a check to see if your PC is protected from a known list of bad programs. If the program detects that you need a update, click on the 'Immunize' button near the top of the screen.
Finally, click on 'Search and Destroy' and let SpybotSD check your system. If it dectects any problems, click on 'Fix Problems' near the top of the screen. Reboot your system when this step is complete.
AdAware 2007 
First click on the 'Update' button and download any updates the program detects. Then click on the 'Scan Now' button, then click on the 'Scan" button on the lower right. After the scan completes, select any items found by AdAware and remove them. Reboot your system when this step is complete.

AVG Antivirus is self updating and scanning, but if you have any trouble with the software, click on the title above to go to the help section of their website.
